Did you hear the winds rustle that day?
Metaphors soared on the backs of gulls.
Thousands of unused words,
ideas not yet writ,
wended their way into the night sky.
A poet’s earth journey complete,
she lives now, forever beautiful,
among the shimmering stars.
Quadrille (44 words) written for dVerse as Grace asks us to use the word “journey.” dVerse is celebrating its fifth anniversary this week. Link up to join in the celebration!
Written in memory of poet Viv Blake who died suddenly on July 5, 2016. Photo taken while in Portland, Maine this past June.
A lovely and moving tribute to Viv. My heart goes out to her family. And as I look back, we have our share of souls who have completed the earth’s journey~

This is breathtaking, Lillian. I just love the idea of the words of a poet dispersing into the universe in spirit. You have honoured her with grace, dignity and beauty with both poem and photo. It brought tears to my eyes. You are right that we do not necessarily need to meet someone in person to be touched by their words and their heart.

Indeed, and she left a hole. A beautifully crafted remembrance, Lillian! Keep tunneling through that mountain of grief. Go slowly. Use a teaspoon. Know that there are others standing around you and holding you up as you go.
